Club Doncaster Sports College is celebrating a remarkable achievement after the Men’s Academy 1 football team were crowned North Central Division 1 champions following an outstanding turnaround season.

After a challenging start to the campaign, the squad showed tremendous resilience and determination to mount an incredible comeback. Their form in 2026 proved decisive, as the team went unbeaten throughout the calendar year, building momentum at exactly the right time.

Back-to-back impressive results against Grimsby Town put the title firmly within reach, setting up a decisive final home fixture against Bradford City; where the team knew, if they matched the result of the Mariners, they’d be champions.

Despite horrendous weather conditions on the day, the Academy 1 side delivered a performance worthy of champions. Playing with intensity, composure, and attacking flair, they dominated proceedings from start to finish, sealing the title in emphatic style with a stunning 6–0 victory.

The result marked a fitting end to a season defined by growth, character, and belief. From early setbacks to an unbeaten run and a title-clinching performance, the players have demonstrated exceptional commitment and teamwork throughout.

Head Coach, Courtney Sterling said, ‘From a tough start to a triumphant finish, this team never stopped believing. Through every setback, they chose hard work, unity, dedication and resilience.

Champions aren’t defined by how they begin, but by how they rise. This league title is earned, deserved, and a testament to every bit of effort they gave along the way’.

As a reward for their success, the team will travel to Wembley Stadium in May as special guests at the EFL Play-Off Finals, where they will proudly receive their league trophy on one of football’s biggest stages.

Sports College Principal, Adi Turnpenny added, ‘Everyone at Club Doncaster Sports College congratulates the team on winning the EFL CEFA League after a fantastic season.

In particular, it is reward for their outstanding attitude both on and off the pitch.

They have represented themselves and the College superbly and we are extremely proud of their achievements.’

This achievement is a testament not only to the players, but also to the dedication of the coaching staff and the support from the wider Club Doncaster Sports College community.
