Staff and students came together on Thursday 2nd July for the annual Club Doncaster Sports College Sports Dinner and Awards Evening to celebrate another fantastic year.

Hosted in the Jibba Jabba restaurant at Club Doncaster Sports Village, the evening marked the end of the 2025/26 academic year with a two-course meal, reflections on the year’s achievements and a special awards ceremony recognising the hard work, commitment and success of students throughout the year.

Alongside their academic studies, students enjoyed a wide range of memorable experiences that enhanced their learning beyond the classroom. Highlights included an educational visit to the National Football Museum, a memorable trip to Wembley Stadium to watch the League One Play-Off Final and celebrate the Men’s Academy 1 EFL CEFA trophy success, as well as inspirational talks from industry professionals, including Premier League and FA Cup Final referee Darren England.

Students also took part in a number of annual football events throughout the year, including Varsity, the Form Cup and the Christmas Cup, while the eagerly anticipated North Yorkshire outward bound residential helped them develop valuable teamwork, leadership and resilience skills.

The evening concluded with the annual awards presentation, recognising students for their achievements both academically and personally across the year.

Sports College Principal Adi Turnpenny praised the students for another outstanding year.

He said: “The students have represented Club Doncaster Sports College brilliantly this year and the staff are proud of them all.

“Alongside working hard on their qualifications, they have had some amazing experiences including a fantastic residential and a trophy presentation at Wembley.

“The Sports Dinner and Awards Evening has been a wonderful celebration of their achievements.”

Year 13 student James Benfold said “Over my two years here I have learnt so much. I particularly enjoyed the Sports Coaching unit and putting this into practice during my work experience. The highlight for me has obviously got to be being part of the college’s first team, winning the league, and going to Wembley.  I am now looking forward to returning in September to study the Sport and Exercise Science Degree here at the stadium.”

Everyone at Club Doncaster Sports College would like to congratulate all award winners and students on another successful year and wish those progressing on to their next chapter every success for the future.
