STUDENT COUNCIL’S SPECIAL DELIVERY

23rd December 2025B Thompson

Student Council Spreads Festive Cheer with Christmas Gift Campaign

In the final week of term, students at Club Doncaster Sports College demonstrated the true spirit of Christmas by taking part in their annual Student Council Christmas campaign, bringing joy to members of the local community.

This year, the Student Council collected over 100 gifts, which were donated, wrapped and personally delivered to residents at Sandrock House Care Home. The initiative formed part of the Pass The Parcel project, delivered in partnership with Pass Logistics Doncaster and Doncaster Rovers Football Club.

Students worked collaboratively to organise the appeal, ensuring each present was thoughtfully prepared before visiting the care home to hand them over. The delivery brought smiles to residents and staff alike, highlighting the positive impact the Student Council can have in the Doncaster community as well as the Sports College.

Student Council Coordinator, Kyle Croft praised the students for their commitment and generosity:

“I am incredibly proud of our Student Council and everyone who contributed to this campaign. Collecting and delivering over 100 gifts is a fantastic achievement and shows the compassion, leadership and community spirit our students demonstrate through our Student Council. Initiatives like this help our young people understand the importance of giving back and making a difference beyond the classroom.”

The Christmas campaign is a long-standing tradition at Club Doncaster Sports College and reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, teamwork and social responsibility. Staff and students are already looking forward to continuing their work with local partners and supporting meaningful projects in the future.

In a year defined by initiative, teamwork, and meaningful contributions, the Club Doncaster Sports College Student Council has achieved remarkable success both within the college and in the wider community.

One of their standout improvements was enhancing the student experience by upgrading the Common Room. Thanks to their efforts, the space now includes new equipment and a club-standard darts setup, offering students an opportunity to play one of the fastest growing sports in the UK.

The Council played a key role in planning and improving three major CDSC events: the Christmas Cup, the annual Varsity, and the Form Cup. Their input helped ensure each event was inclusive, competitive, and engaging for all involved.

Club Doncaster Sports College run a minimum of one academic trip each year, the Student Council took the lead in selecting two exciting and educational trips—to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium and the National Football Museum. These outings offered students the chance to explore the history, business, and culture behind football and linked into their vocational curriculum.

At the 2025 Varsity tuck shop, they raised £150, which will go directly back into future Student Council projects. Over Christmas, members of the Student Council coordinated a food collection for the Doncaster Foodbank, their chosen charity for 2024. This was supported further by a Christmas Jumper Day which raised £50, all of which was used to buy even more essential supplies for Doncaster Foodbank.

Topping off another excellent year, the Student Council helped the Foundation earn top marks from Doncaster Council during a meeting to assess its ‘Child Friendly Status’. Inspectors were impressed, particularly by the professionalism and engagement of the students involved in the Student Council.
