- This innovative course will give you the opportunity to become part of the rapidly expanding PE teaching, sports coaching, and sports development industry.
- With the increasing demand for knowledgeable and professional coaches in a wide range of sports environments, alongside the constant need for creative and forward-thinking PE teachers, this multi-disciplinary qualification provides theoretical, practical and vocational learning opportunities.
- This course is ran in partnership between Doncaster University Centre and Club Doncaster Sports College, where students study both in the HUB campus and at the Eco-Power Stadium, in the Club Doncaster Sports Park.

Example Units and Structure
YEAR ONE (LEVEL 4) – At Level 4 students follow a course of study which includes the following Core Modules:
- The Sport and Leisure Industry
- Introduction to Sport & Exercise Science
- Foundations of PE and Sports Coaching
- PE & the National Curriculum
- Practical PE & Sports Coaching
- Research Methods & Study Skills
YEAR TWO (LEVEL 5) – At Level 5 students follow a course of study which includes the following Core Modules:
- Psychology for PE Teachers and Coaches
- Sport Development
- Advanced Sports Coaching Practice
- Advanced PE Practice
- Research Methods
- Professional Practice in Sport
- Work placement within teaching or coaching
YEAR THREE (LEVEL 6) – At Level 6 students follow a course of study which includes the following Core Modules:
- Sport & Society
- Employability in Sport
- Physical Activity, Exercise and Healthy Living
- Contemporary Issues in PE & Sports Coaching
- Major Independent Research Project
Entry Requirements
- You’ll need to have:
- One of the following:
- 80 Ucas tariff points
- Access to HE Diploma in a Sports related programme with at least 45 credits at Level 3
- Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)
- We welcome applications from people of any age who might not meet the standard entry criteria, but we would expect to see evidence of continuing academic and/or professional development and a capacity to pursue the course successfully. Applicants will need to evidence IT skills and a willingness to participate in a range of practical sport and exercise activities.
